2008: Record Dec & Jan Events
For Immediate Release
POWDERHORN HAS RECORD DECEMBER SNOWFALL
Best snowfall in 25 years kicks off the season and gets resort bracing for a busy January
Mesa,
CO, January 5, 2008: The
month of December proved to be a record month at Powderhorn Resort,
just outside of Grand Junction, CO. Storm after storm dropped a total
of 132 inches on the ski resort proving the best December snowfall in
25 years. The previous record was 68 inches 1983. Powderhorn’s
snowfall records date back to the 1983-84 season.
“It’s just been incredible”, said Powderhorn’s Marketing Director,
Sarah Allen. “We received 24 inches the day before we opened, causing
an 'all hands on deck' situation to prepare the mountain and base area
for public the next day. We all helped shovel snow and setup signage,
fencing, etc. Although not expected, we all pulled together and had a
great time doing it!”
Powderhorn staff are crossing their
fingers for cold weather and snow to help launch new programs and
improvements at the resort this season. Including:
- Terrain park expansions with new features.
- New group programs-groups of 20 or more save 20%
- New season pass options
- Friday Feeds-what’s happening at Powderhorn Podcasts released every Friday during the season
- Last minute specials and discounts delivered through text messages by texting DEALS to 95495
- Webcam
& Online videos-catch the excitement live from the slopes with
videos coming out regularly covering powder days, events, and updates
on conditions
- Going Green-new environmental programs have been
put in place. Including the purchase of Renewable Energy Credits to
support ski area operations.
- Expanded services in the Bear's Den at Wildewood with games on the big screen, happy hour specials
- Women’s Wednesday Clinics- taught by women for women. For skiers or snowboarders.

addition, the Resort has announced the following January events, which
they hope will bring in record numbers of people from the December
